This painting highlights a unique relationship that we find in nature. The Pilot fish follow along different types of sharks and create a mutually beneficial relationship: The pilot fish will eat parasites off of the shark and in return the shark won’t eat the pilot fish and will protect them from other predators that would like to eat them.

It’s been reported that these two species inevitably build a bond. Sometimes pilot fish will follow after fishing boats that have caught their shark friend for multiple days; showing signs of being distressed.

So the lesson here is this: even fierce predators have a soft spot haha! Remind me of the Finding Nemo Quote - “Fish are friends, not food”
