"Shelter"

There's been a hummingbird friend hanging right outside my office - it's the same one and it's always perched in the same place in the same tree. On a certain rainy day, my wife and I caught him huddled underneath a leaf during a rainstorm. He's a tenacious little guy! This painting was inspired by him.

In this image the rain is starting to clear up and he is about to leave his protected perch for a sun lit journey after a rainstorm. Likewise, there is nothing wrong with having a place of retreat during a storm, as long as your willing to get back out there after the storm has passed.
