Baltimore Oriole

Orioles are such a fun bird to paint! They’ve got the sharp beak and those stark patterns. Baltimore Orioles aren’t a typical visitor in my neck of the woods, but they are still beautifully patterned and very memorable! What is your favorite Oriole?

This artwork explores the “Zorn Palette” - a very transitional palette made famous by the painter Anders Zorn. It is a limited palette of Black, White, Yellow Ochre and Red. It has a richness to it and it gives the paintings an “antique” look! I will be painting more in this wonderful palette!
